In the December 22 post here at Catholic460 (on “Reconciling Genesis and Evolution”), I mentioned I would not address anything surrounding the December 18 Vatican document Fiducia Supplicans until after the 12 Days of Christmas were complete.
The only edifying contribution I intended to make would be a brief exegesis of Romans 1:18 concerning the “wrath of God” and the danger of justifying immorality. It was my hope that lay Catholics and pastors might benefit from such a simplified exegesis and return to the foundations of the Catholic faith: the Apostolic writings put in a proper and faithful context. Such foundations have the power to bring light into any darkness.
As a prelude to such an exegesis, on December 30, Catholic460 posted and explained what I believe to be the deeper issue that needs healing inside the Catholic Church: proper Marian devotion and honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Proper Marian devotion ties together the mystery of Christ and the mystery of the Church. It binds them more closely in the hearts of believers. The article was titled “From Mother of God to Co-Redemptrix.”
Crisis Magazine is helping share the brief exegesis I’ve been promising and which I hoped would be edifying. Please click this link for the exegesis on Romans 1:18:
